Based in Denver, Colorado (CO).
Harry Heye Tammen (6 March 1856 to 1924) was born in Baltimore, Maryland, the son of a German immigrant pharmacist.
In 1881, together with his partner Charles A. Stuart, they established the firm of H.H. Tammen & Company, also known as H.H. Tammen Curio Company. The company sold inauthentic skookum dolls, Navajo blankets, arrowheads, and other fake Native American memorabilia. They focused on creating souvenir mineralogical curiosities of Colorado, but also sold photography and the like.
The company also sold colorized prints and postcards shot by different photographers and became Colorado’s largest postcard publisher. They were the publishers of national view-cards and Western themes in photo-chromolithography
In 1895, Tammen and Frederick G. Bonfils became co-owners of the Denver Post. Tammen held the position of co-editor until his death.
