Albert Esnault (Louis-Olivier-Albert Esnault) was born on January 3, 1857, at No. 40 rue de la Pépinière in Paris. He was the son of Félicie-Aimée Esnault, née Ferrier, a seamstress, and Louis-Désiré Esnault 1 , an employee of the Ministry of Navy.
He was a French painter , draftsman and engraver , mainly known as an illustrator and poster artist. Between 1878 and 1880, Esnault drew several portraits of writers for the printer-bookseller Bécus. Esnault mainly illustrated books, periodicals and posters. He notably produced anti-Semitic caricatures for the "La Libre Parole illustrée".
On September 14, 1898, he married Emma-Ernestine Assailly (1862-1927).
Esnault died at the Saint-Jean-de-Dieu nursing home, rue Oudinot , on March 7, 1901.
